TOT: tricked out teardrop

Aaron and I were watching The National Parks: America's Best Idea by Ken Burns this evening and reflecting on our trip to the Badlands and future trips to other national parks when we started talking about the volunteer program. Though Aaron started to fall asleep and eventually went to bed before it ended, I couldn't help but get the idea out of my head. Mostly because it had already been vaguely in my head after the Night Sky Guide mentioned it on our trip.

Most of the volunteer programs offer RV hookups as compensation for time spent. Aaron and I have a tent and an air mattress and a propane stove that chooses when to work. All that is fine, until you get to torrential down pours in South Dakota. I don't think I could spend a summer of half sleeping in a tent and half sleeping in the car when the rain collapses the tent.

This led me to research small, lightweight campers that I could tow with my Toyota Camry. Originally I found the bed bug website a long time ago and forgot it existed. But I am pretty much in love with teardrop trailers now. More so the ones that are built from scratch.

Then I found this blog that this guy dedicated to his teardrop trailer. He custom built it with air conditioning and a pet pull-out among other things. Gosh do I wish I were more mechanically and craftsmanly inclined.
